“I feel Bollywood can’t afford me. That’s why I don’t want to waste my time there.” South superstar Mahesh Babu said this at the trailer launch event of his production venture ‘Major’ on Monday. He said that I am happy that the meaning of Indian cinema has changed with the blockbuster release of Telugu films across the country.
I don’t want to be a pan India star
During the trailer launch of ‘Major’ Mahesh Babu says, ‘My aim is not to present myself as a pan India star, but to make South films successful across the country. I always wanted to do Telugu films and wanted people across India to watch it. And now that this is happening, I am very happy. I have always believed that my strength is Telugu films. It has crossed all boundaries and made Bollywood, Tollywood into Indian cinema.
Will you work in Bollywood?
Mahesh Babu further adds, “I got a lot of offers in Hindi. But I feel Bollywood can’t afford me. That’s why I don’t want to waste my time. I have never felt the love and stardom that Telugu cinema has given me. Didn’t even imagine. I always thought that I will make films here, and they will be liked in a big way, and my faith is turning into a reality now. I couldn’t be happier than that.”

The film Major is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who was martyred during the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack. The film, starring Adivi Shesh, is directed by Shashi Kiran Tikka. The film is produced by Sony Pictures Films India in association with Mahesh Babu’s GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies.
