Akshay Kumar has had to bear the brunt of the poor planning of the Hindi branch of Fox Star Studios and the inability of the film to reach the viewers of the Hindi audience. Akshay Kumar’s film Housefull 4 released on Dhanteras has proved to be the weakest film of his films released this year. Despite being a multi-starrer film, Housefull 4 could not even cross the Rs 20 crore mark in the first day collection.
Akshay Kumar’s name has been a big brand in the Hindi film industry. His films are considered a box office hit. However, the statement released by Yash Raj Films about his not being taken in Dhoom 4 on the day of the film Housefull 4 released on Friday has hurt his branding significantly. Apart from Akshay’s fans, the film Trade also had expectations from the film Housefull 4. It was speculated that the film would easily make an opening of Rs 20 crore but the film stuck to a collection of Rs 18 crore 85 lakh. This is the least collection of Akshay’s films released on this year.
Before Housefull 4, two films of Akshay Kumar, Kesari and Mission Mangal have been released this year. Kesari’s first day collection was Rs 21 crore 50 lakh. The film was released on Holi. At the same time, the opening of Akshay Kumar’s film Mission Mangal released on Independence Day was 29 crores 16 lakhs. Due to the collection of film Housefull 4 being less than 20 crores, there is a lot of stir in the Hindi film industry since Saturday morning.
It is understood that Akshay’s declining credibility can also have an impact on his next film Good News. Good News will be the last film of Hindi cinema to be released this year and also Akshay Kumar’s last film. The film is scheduled to release on December 27. The reviews of the film Housefull 4 have come out very poorly. It received two out of five stars in our review. The English newspaper Indian Express did not consider it a single star worth film.
