The journey of child artists in Bollywood is often a tale of two halves. The stardom and sparkle they enjoy in their early years frequently fade as they transition into adulthood. While some star kids struggle to find their footing, others vanish entirely. However, the story of 90s sensation Omkar Kapoor is one of resilience. Having spent his childhood amidst the biggest superstars, he couldn’t quite replicate that massive success as a lead hero, yet he continues to hustle. Let’s take a look at where the “Chota Bachcha” star is today.
Who is Omkar Kapoor?
If you grew up in the 90s, you definitely remember the mischievous yet adorable Master Omkar. He was one of the busiest and most popular child actors of his time. By the tender age of six, he had already featured in 13 films! His journey began with the 1996 film Masoom, and soon after, he was sharing screen space with the titans of the industry.

He played Shah Rukh Khan’s son Vicky in Chaahat, the younger version of Salman Khan in Judwaa, and charmed audiences in Govinda’s Hero No. 1. His impressive filmography also includes Anil Kapoor’s Judaai, Aamir Khan’s Mela, and Akshay Kumar’s International Khiladi. Thanks to his innocence, natural acting, and memorable songs like “Chota Bachcha Jaan Ke,” Omkar became a household name.
The Struggle as a Lead Hero
Despite his massive fame as a child prodigy, Omkar’s transition to a lead hero wasn’t smooth sailing. He made his big debut as an adult in Luv Ranjan’s 2015 hit Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. In the film, he played one of the three leads alongside Kartik Aaryan. Interestingly, at the time of the film’s release, many felt his performance and screen presence even overshadowed Kartik Aaryan in certain segments.
While the film was a superhit, it didn’t catapult Omkar to the same stardom that Kartik eventually found. Following this, he appeared in films like U, Me Aur Ghar, Jhootha Kahin Ka, Lavaste, and Button, but unfortunately, none of them set the box office on fire.
Making a Mark on OTT and TV
Refusing to give up, Omkar turned his attention to the digital space and found steady work. He has been a part of several web series, including Kaushiki, Bhoot Purva, Bhram, Forbidden Love, Bisaat, and Shaadi Ke Baad.
Television, too, has been a part of his journey. He actually started his career on TV with the 1993 show Filmi Chakkar as ‘Chintu’. He made a comeback to the small screen recently in 2024, playing the role of ‘Siddharth’ in the show Aangan – Aapno Kaa.
Where is Omkar Kapoor Now?
Now 38 years old, Omkar Kapoor remains active in the industry. He is currently single and fully focused on his career. He was last seen in the silent film Uff Yeh Siyapa and is gearing up for his next project, titled Project Love. Although his adult career hasn’t yet matched the dizzying heights of his childhood stardom, his persistence proves he is here to stay.
