- Digital Review: Shikara (Trailer)
- Artist: Adil Khan, Saadia etc.
- Director: Vidhu Vinod Chopra
- Producer: Vidhu Vinod Chopra
20 years ago, director Vidhu Vinod Chopra made a film with Hrithik Roshan, Mission Kashmir. Rajkumar Hirani was the film editor in that film. Vidhu has remembered Kashmir again in the film Shikara after the year 2000. Between Mission Kashmir and Shikara, Vidhu made only two films, Eklavya and Broken Horses. Both were superflop.
Vidhu has made a big name in Hindi cinema with the films Khamosh and Parinda. As a producer, he has also made blockbuster films like 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju apart from the Munnabhai series. Rajkumar Hirani was the director of all these films. Vidhu has taken up the re-direction in the film Shikara and the trailer released on Tuesday tells that Vidhu’s charisma is no longer the life he was known for.
It looks like love story after seeing Shikara trailer. His film Karib was a love story with Bobby Deol and Neha. From there, the sun of Vidhu began to set. The trailer of Shikara repeatedly speaks of the exodus of Hindus from Kashmir. When the story of the love story is sold by making the film’s USP, then what is the intention of the director? The trailer of the film Shikara tries to take viewers to the 1990s.
The trailer states that then four lakh Kashmiri Pandits were rendered homeless in their own country. In 1994 Vidhu made a film like 1942 A Love Story, he could have made it like Shikara, but even then he might have been in favor of becoming a hit film director instead of becoming a flag bearer of social displacement.
Two new faces in the trailer are Adil Khan and Sadia. Vidhu has named them Shiv Kumar Dhar and Shanti Dhar. However, expressions do not appear on both faces. There has also been an attempt to get the trailer to be discussed in the name of Rahman, but the trailer of Shikara, released with the movie Malang, is very flat and sharp. The film does not seem to get any help from it.
