Another Vidya Balan film, Jalsa has been released on Amazon Prime Video. Earlier, Vidya’s Sherni and Shakuntala Devi were also released on the same OTT platform. Shefali Shah is in the lead role with Vidya in Jalsa. The film is directed by Suresh Triveni, director of Vidya’s film Tumhari Sulu. So will this film also be able to do wonders like his previous film? It doesn’t seem like it, but still, the film is a must-watch because of two amazing actors.
Story of the movie?
Vidya Balan is a star journalist named Maya Menon in the film, and she lives with her mother and her handicapped son. Shefali Shah played the role of her cook Rukhsana in the film. Things get really bad at some point and get out of hand. You have to watch the film for what happens and how it happens.
What’s amazing in the film?
The film focuses on Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah. The acting of both will win your heart. The body language, expression, voice modulation of both are amazing. The supporting cast like Rohini Hattangadi who plays Vidya’s mother and Iqbal Khan, have also given their best performances. Suresh Triveni brings out the complex emotions very well with the dark human drama. Gaurav Chatterjee has given good background music and sound effects. Saurabh Goswami’s camera work is also great. While video editor Shivakumar V Penikar has done a good job on the film.
Where is the lack?
Seeing the trailer, it was felt that this film will be a psychological thriller. While this is just a human drama. The pace of the film also looks quite slow. There are some unnecessary scenes in the film, which do not make sense. At the same time, the good actor like Manav Kaul has been wasted here. It is not known whether he is for cameo or for what. We cannot understand.
Weather to see the movie or not?
Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah have proved to be masterpieces in the film. They have won hearts with their effortless acting. It is a complex human drama and because of the two powerful actors, this film is a must-watch.
We are giving this movie 3 out of 5 stars.
