The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken significant action against actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, actor-entrepreneur Raj Kundra. On Thursday, ED seized assets worth 98 crore rupees belonging to Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra. This action by the ED is related to the 6600 crore rupees Bitcoin Ponzi scheme case.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, under the investigation of a money laundering case, properties including a bungalow in Pune belonging to actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra have been seized. This case is related to fraudulent activities involving investors’ money through Bitcoin investments.
As per the statement issued by the ED, “The seized assets include a flat in Juhu, Mumbai, registered in the name of Shilpa Shetty, and a bungalow in Pune registered in the name of Raj Kundra. Additionally, equity shares are also part of the seized assets.” It further stated that an interim attachment order has been issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to seize assets worth approximately 97.79 crore rupees.
The Enforcement Directorate had initiated an investigation against Vanu Wearable Tech PTE Limited and accused individuals including late Amit Bharadwaj, Ajay Bharadwaj, Vivek Bharadwaj, Simpi Bharadwaj, Mahendra Bharadwaj, and others, following the filing of an FIR by the Maharashtra Police and Delhi Police. The accused were alleged to have collected a significant amount of money from people with false promises of a 10% monthly return in the form of Bitcoin.
The ED alleged that the promoters deceived investors and concealed improperly obtained bitcoins in obscure online wallets. Shilpa Shetty is a renowned Bollywood actress, while her husband Raj Kundra has also ventured into the film industry. Raj Kundra made his Bollywood debut last year with the film ‘UT69’.
