After the lifting of the lockdown imposed to prevent corona infection, when the theatres once again opened for cinema lovers in 2021, only two Bollywood films – ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ’83’ – have managed to do well at the box-office and made it to the top 10 list of hits. At the same time, Telugu film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ remains in the first place in this list.

While out of 15 films released in 2022, nine are from Bollywood, five from South Cinema and one film from Hollywood. Bollywood, which took the lead in the number of films, failed to take the lead at the box office and in the report of 2022 also South’s KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR made their place in the top 2.

Why did South films dominate Hindi cinema?
For two consecutive years, South’s films are taking a toll on Bollywood. The audience of Hindi belt is also preferring to watch South films rather than Bollywood films. To know the reason behind this, an online portal had conducted a poll on their website. In this poll, they asked the readers that, according to them, ‘What can be the reason for the success of South films in Hindi-speaking states?’ You will be surprised to know that 93.25 per cent of readers said that South films are succeeding due to lack of original content in Bollywood. At the same time, 6.75 percent say that not promoting Bollywood films properly has become the reason for its flop.
