The story of Telugu cinema’s veteran producer director SS Rajamouli’s story before Indian cinema’s most successful film series ‘Bahubali’ i.e. ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’ is not completely over yet. For the first time, Netflix has officially opened its mouth on this issue amid discussions about the series being made twice, first with Mrunal Thakur and then Vamika Gabbi in the role of Sivagami. In the course of investigation being done by a new agency regarding this series, Netflix has admitted that the work on ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’ has not stopped and is re-evaluating this huge and grand story.
Mrunal Thakur’s series cancelled
Last year, during the second wave of Corona infection, Netflix completely cancelled its most ambitious Indian web series ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’. All its episodes, shot by spending a hundred crore rupees, were thrown in the trash by the management of the OTT company. There was a lot of uproar about this decision, but later it became clear that this series was also cleared in the cleaning of the Indian office of Netflix. Netflix had also decided to remake this series only then. Actress Mrunal Thakur played the role of Sivagami in the cancelled series.
Story to be made in three seasons
After ‘Baahubali: Before the Beginning’, which was remade in the monsoon last year, actress Vamika Gabbi to play the role of Sivagami was finalized. A total of three seasons are to be made of Netflix’s web series ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’. These three seasons have been written by famous writer Anand Neelkanthan. Based on his novels ‘The Rise of Sivagami’, ‘Chaturanga’ and ‘Queen of Mahishmati’, the series may not be ready for release as Netflix and Rajamouli’s team have not been able to direct this series.
Vamika Gabbi also entered
The series ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’ is actually the story of Sivagami, seen in the films of ‘Bahubali’ series, from childhood to becoming the queen of Mahishmati. There were also reports of resumption of shooting after Vamika Gabbi was signed on to play the role of Sivagami. It was told that faces like Atul Kulkarni and Rahul Bose were retained in the series, being made anew. But, then there was no further news about this series and with the shooting of the series being stopped again, the message was that Netflix did not like even the second attempt to make ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’.
Series being made for five years
The web series ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’ is the longest-running series in the history of Netflix. The producers of this series, which started being made in the year 2017, are the directors of the films of ‘Bahubali’ series. This series was completely shot in February 2019 itself, but after watching its final cut, the Netflix management expressed dissatisfaction over it. Series writer Anand Neelkanthan also objected to the dialogues written in its linguistic versions. Netflix has now given an official statement regarding the latest status of the series ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’, which has been shot twice so far.
Netflix official statement
In response to a query from a news agency, the Netflix management said, ‘The web series ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’ is the most beloved intellectual property of the country. Making the country’s first epic series has its own challenges. The last two years have been years of crisis and constraints due to covid, which has had a profound effect on the construction of such a huge scale. Netflix is re-evaluating the entire ‘project’ so that it can present the best version of this story to its viewers.
