Let’s known in detail about the real life of the two main characters (Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem) of Rajamouli’s film RRR.
Komaram Bheem
Even though SS Rajamouli’s film is fictional, the two main characters of his film are from real life. One of them is Komaram Bheem. Komaram Bheem is known as the brave warrior of Telangana. He was born on 22 October 1901 in a Gond tribal tribe in Sankapalli village of Adilabad district. His father’s name was Komaram Chinnu and mother’s name was Som Bai. Due to being born in a poor family, he could not get education and like the rest of the Gond tribe, he stayed away from the outside world. From childhood, he saw his people being exploited by the zamindars, traders and also saw how important struggle is to survive.
Jal, Jungle, Zameen
Growing up, he saw the unjust practices inflicted on his people. Seeing the misery of his people, the flame of rebellion broke out in him. It is said that Komaram Bhima was greatly inspired by Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who had sacrificed his life for his motherland. As well as other Gond leaders who sacrificed for their people. With this inspiration, he gave the slogan “Jal, Jungle Zameen”, which means that the people living in the forests should have full rights over all the forest resources.
Komaram Bheem’s Guerrilla Army
As a revolutionary leader, Komaram Bhima waged a war against the Asaf Jahi dynasty for the independence of the tribals. It is said that when his father raised his voice for the rights of the tribals, he was murdered. At the same time, it is said that once a tenant of Nizam Siddiqui was harassing the tribals for tax. When the matter increased a lot, Siddiqui was killed by Bhima. Because of this, Bhima had to run away from there.
After leaving from there, he started working in the tea gardens of Assam. There, too, he raised his voice for the rights of the workers. But, because of this, he was put in jail. When he was released from jail, he came back to his people and fought against the Nizam with his guerrilla army. His guerrilla war against the Nizam lasted from 1928 to 1940.
At the same time, when the Nizam felt that Bhima’s rebellion was increasing, he sent a messenger to quell the rebellion against him. But, Bhima refused to have any kind of conversation. After this, the Nizam sent a contingent of his soldiers to kill the rebels. In this battle, Komaram Bhima was martyred along with his companions. At the same time, it is also said that when Nizam’s army failed to make Bhima surrender, his companions were killed in 1940.
Who was Alluri Sitarama Raju?
Alluri Sitarama Raju was a freedom fighter and the main leader of ‘Rampa’ rebellion. He was born on 4 July 1897 in Mogallu village near Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh. Along with this, an act had also badly affected the way of doing traditional agriculture of the tribals. For many years, the tribal people suffered the persecution of the British. But, the rebellion of Alluri worked to shake the foundation of the British.
Alluri is known for leading the ‘Rampa Rebellion’ against the British. In this, he organized the tribal people of Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts to revolt against the foreigners. The ‘Rampa Rebellion’ was fought between 1922 and 1924. As part of this rebellion, Alluri raided several police stations and killed many British officers. Along with this, the arms and ammunition of the British were also stolen for the fight.
He had local support and avoided the British for a long time. At the same time, in the end the British caught him and on 7 May 1924, he was shot dead by tying him to a tree.
