The much-anticipated wedding of Indian women’s cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palaash Muchhal has been the subject of intense speculation and confusion over the past few weeks. While recent social media buzz suggested that the couple was all set to tie the knot on December 7 in Sangli, the family has now stepped forward to clear the air. Contrary to the viral rumors, the wedding is not taking place this week and stands cancelled for the time being due to unforeseen health emergencies in the family.
The couple was originally scheduled to get married on November 23, but the ceremony was abruptly called off on the morning of the big day. Reports confirmed that Smriti’s father suffered a sudden medical emergency and had to be rushed to the hospital. The stress of the situation also took a toll on the groom-to-be, Palaash Muchhal, who was subsequently admitted to the hospital as well. His mother revealed that he required IV support and underwent several tests due to extreme stress.
Despite the clear health reasons cited by the family, the internet has been rife with gossip. Following the postponement, social media platforms were flooded with unverified claims and alleged chat screenshots involving Palaash and another woman, leading to wild theories about infidelity. Fans also noticed that Smriti had removed her engagement posts, which further fueled the fire. Amidst this chaos, new rumors emerged claiming that the families had rescheduled the wedding for December 7. However, Smriti Mandhana’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, has categorically denied these reports. Speaking to the media, he stated that he has no idea about these rumors and confirmed that, as of now, the wedding remains postponed.
Palaash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, also shed light on the situation, emphasizing that the families will only resume celebrations once everyone has fully recovered from the recent emotional and physical stress. She dismissed the negativity, expressing her belief that the wedding will happen very soon. She further shared that it was actually Palaash’s decision to call off the wedding when Smriti’s father fell ill. She explained that Palaash is deeply attached to his future father-in-law and refused to proceed with the festivities until “uncle” was fully recovered. While Smriti’s father has since returned home and doctors have found no major abnormalities, the families are taking time to heal before announcing a new date.
