Om Raut’s film Adipurush suffered huge losses. The reason was that the movie turned out to be completely opposite to what the audience expected and it was heavily trolled. The film was also discussed a lot on social media. People vented their frustration about it. Now Vivek Agnihotri, director of successful films like The Kashmir Files, told what exactly went wrong with Adipurush that ruined the film.
Don’t take up without conviction
The audience was very excited about Adipurush ever since it was announced. The film’s subject, stars like Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, VFX etc enhanced people’s excitement. However, the teaser itself spoiled the mood of the audience. After that when the film released, there was a barrage of criticism on social media. Now Vivek Agnihotri spoke about this to ETimes. He said, ‘When you make something that you yourself do not believe in just because it is the trend, you are definitely going wrong.’
If you pick up a story of faith…
Vivek further says, whenever you pick up a story of faith, either you should have 100% conviction in it or you should have a good grip on the subject like a historian. But unfortunately no one does that in India. Whoever takes big stars for Mahabharata and Ramayana will not be able to do justice to it. There must be some reason why Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita have stayed in people’s minds for 5000 years.
People are not fools
Vivek said, just by saying on screen that I am God, you don’t become God. If you are coming home drunk every night, you can’t get up next morning and say I am God, believe me. No one will trust you. People are not fools.
